Burlington Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying those involved in two separate incidents: a violent group assault that occurred around 1:54 AM on June 29 near S. Winooski Avenue and Main Street, and two burglary attempts at a North Union Street home.

Violent group assault downtown – An officer on foot patrol found the victim, who said he was attacked by several people. The suspects had fled before police arrived. The victim was treated at UVM Medical Center, and the case was transferred to the Detective Services Bureau. Surveillance cameras captured two suspects and a person of interest.

Repeated attempted burglaries – The Burlington Police Department is also asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in two recent burglary incidents at a North Union Street residence.

The first incident occurred on July 26 at about 4:14 AM, when officers responded to a report of a burglary that had just taken place. The suspect was described as a black male wearing all grey clothing and a face mask. He fled the scene before police arrived.

Less than a week later, on August 1 at around 3:23 AM, the same suspect reportedly returned to the residence and began to open the door. He fled again after seeing the resident through a window.

The investigations have been assigned to the department’s Detective Services Bureau. A surveillance image of the person of interest has been released. Police also issued burglary prevention tips for residents:

• Lock all doors and windows, especially at night.

• Avoid leaving first-floor windows open while sleeping.

• Keep valuables out of sight from windows.

• Maintain a list of valuables, including serial numbers, make, model, and estimated value.

• Report suspicious activity immediately and provide detailed descriptions.

• Make your home appear occupied at all times.

• Obtain renter’s insurance.
