A Burlington man was arrested early Tuesday after allegedly brandishing a handgun during a domestic quarrel on Bank Street, according to Burlington Police.
Officers responded at approximately 5:11 AM on August 5 to reports of a disturbance near the intersection of Bank and Church streets. Police say the incident began as an apparent domestic dispute between two individuals when a third party, later identified as 27-year-old Nathan Couture of Burlington, approached and displayed a firearm.
The couple involved told officers they were arguing when Couture intervened by brandishing a handgun. They provided a description of the suspect, which led police to locate and detain Couture nearby.
Police say Couture was found to be in possession of a loaded .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol. He was arrested without incident.
Couture is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Chittenden Superior Court.
