Our city is increasingly diverse: 37% of our high and middle school students identify as Black, Indigenous, or people of color (BIPOC) and 36% identify as LGBTQ+. In response to rising intolerance, our city government must use its power to call out injustices like racism, xenophobia, and transphobia.

We must continue funding the services we need rather than turning to reactionary approaches that create more barriers and harm. We must ensure that at every level, we are prioritizing the safety and belonging of our most marginalized neighbors.
Centering those voices will be the root of my approach as mayor. I will:
- Utilize the Racial Equity Inclusion and Belonging office (REIB) to advise on policy and city functions, including as an employer;
- Ensure that marginalized voices are at the table when establishing the city’s work and priorities;
- Remove language barriers and increase access to city resources, voting information, and public meetings;
- Appoint department heads with proven track records of fostering inclusivity in the workplace.
A livable, vibrant city is one where everyone feels that they belong. As your next mayor, I will center the voices of those who are most impacted by institutional harms like racism, sexism and homophobia to advance equity, safety and inclusion.
