A 35-year-old Winooski man is being held without bail after Burlington police say he struck a person in the head earlier this month, leaving the victim unconscious with serious injuries.

Dylan Andrews was arraigned Monday, August 24, on an aggravated assault charge stemming from an August 10 incident at 81 St. Paul Street in Burlington – site of the historic First Baptist Church.

Police said Andrews struck the victim in the head at about 5:32 PM while on the grounds of the St. Paul Street property. The blow caused the victim to fall to the ground, according to police. Responding officers found the victim unconscious. The person suffered what police described as serious bodily injuries and was hospitalized.

Burlington police located and arrested Andrews on the afternoon of August 21. He was charged with aggravated assault and held without bail pending his August 24 arraignment.

At Monday’s arraignment, the court ordered Andrews to remain held without bail because of a probation violation, police said.
