On Monday, August 18, at around 12:40 a.m., Burlington Police Department officers responded to a report of two individuals attempting to break into a vehicle on Berry Street. The suspects fled in a dark-colored vehicle before police arrived.
Shortly after, officers observed two dark vehicles speeding on Pine Street through downtown Burlington, heading north on North Avenue. The vehicles drove recklessly, exceeding speed limits and traveling the wrong way on one-way streets. Police pursued the suspects.
One vehicle crashed on Manhattan Drive, and the driver fled on foot. Officers apprehended the juvenile suspect after a brief chase. No injuries were reported. The crashed vehicle was confirmed stolen earlier that evening, likely linked to the Berry Street incident. The juvenile was issued a citation to appear in Chittenden Superior Court – Family Division.
