Friends and Neighbors,

My name is Jane Knodell. I am a Professor of Economics at UVM and a former Progressive City Councilor for Ward 2 and the Central District. I wanted to share with you why it is so important that we elect Joan Shannon as our next Mayor.

Joan and I have not always agreed. However, I believe strongly that Joan is the leader we need now. On the most important issue facing Burlington now – public safety, the rebuilding of our police force, and the restoration of community policing – Joan is the clear choice.

Joan will be an honest, straightforward, and pragmatic leader. Joan takes great care to listen, reflect, and research before making decisions. Over her many years of service as a city councilor, Joan has proved her commitment to improving the lives of all Burlingtonians.

Electing Joan as our next Mayor is the most important thing we can do this town meeting day and I hope you will join me in volunteering for the campaign before March 5th
