On December 14, a shopper experienced the unfortunate theft of their purse from their shopping cart. The Burlington Police Department swiftly responded to the incident, collaborating with a retail loss prevention officer and reviewing store surveillance footage to identify the suspect. The suspected culprit was identified as Crystal Smiley, a 44-year-old resident of Winooski.
On January 3, 2024, officers from the BPD Marketplace detail successfully located Crystal Smiley. She was apprehended, processed, and subsequently released with a flash citation for Larceny from a Person. Smiley is scheduled to appear in court on January 11, at 10:30am.
