Tonight, Wednesday November 29, at 5:25 pm the three Democratic candidates for mayor of Burlington – Joan Shannon, Karen Paul, and CD Mattison – will speak at a televised call-in forum hosted by Channel 17. The studio line for callers is (802) 862-3966.

The winner of the December 10 Democratic caucus will face Progressive Emma Mulvaney-Stanak in City Meeting elections in March. 5:45 PM Monday, December 4, the city’s Progressives will hold their own caucus in-person at the Old North End Community Center at 20 Allen Street, with an electronic voting option for those who register by 5 pm on December 3.
The mayoral campaign showed one of its first displays of ‘substance’ yesterday, when both Mulvaney-Stanak and Shannon released campaign statements on public safety – an issue pushed even further to the forefront, if such a thing were possible, by the gunning down of three Palestinian men last Saturday on Prospect Street by (police say) a 48-year-old Jason Eaton of Burlington.
The statements by both Mulvaney-Stanak and Shannon are published in their entirety in the Burlington Daily News.
