Slapping the Leahy name on yet another monument to his ego – in this case a local airport – is an insult to every hard-working Vermont taxpayer
Leahy was not only paid a lot of your money to represent the Green Mountain State but made a fortune on the side writing self-aggrandizing “books” and making self-serving political speeches while he was supposedly on the taxpayer’s dime
His name is seemingly on every unmovable object in the state.
For example, UVM just opened a new building with his name slapped on the front in return for his bringing the university tens of millions of federal taxpayer dollars over the years.
Public service was once a virtue, such as in the days of George Aiken, Vermont’s beloved Republican senator from years ago.
Leahy succeeded Aiken, but Patrick Leahy is no George Aiken.
