Burlington police arrest two in separate incidents

Burlington Police were active over the past few days, responding to two significant incidents.
On July 5, officers responded to a late-reported aggravated assault that took place on June 18. The investigation revealed that Manuel Cardenas, 27, of New York, struck an individual with brass knuckles on College Street on June 18. The victim was hospitalized for the injuries sustained. Officers were able to locate Cardenas and take him into custody.
Later, in the early hours of July 6, officers responded to a report of an armed individual on Main Street. Arriving at approximately 3:13 a.m., they identified the suspect as Victoria Sherman, 33, of Burlington. Sherman allegedly brandished a kitchen knife and threatened three individuals. She was promptly taken into custody and transported to the Burlington Police Department. Sherman is currently held at Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility with bail set by a judge. She is scheduled to appear in court on July 8. A background check revealed Sherman’s extensive criminal history, including 10 failures to appear in court, 4 felony charges, 69 misdemeanor charges with 14 convictions, 13 assaultive crime charges with 4 convictions, and 1 charge involving a dangerous or deadly weapon.
